There are days when you don’t just see potential—you feel it. My recent visit to Hill-Top Model School, Minna was one of those days. A school already known for nurturing brilliance and creativity, Hill-Top is now setting its sights on something even more transformative: becoming a centre of digital excellence.

Conversations That Matter

During the visit, I had the pleasure of sitting down with the school’s leadership—the Principal, members of the management team, the Board of Trustees of the Alumni Association, and the passionate minds behind the Hill-Top Creative Foundation. Our discussions were both strategic and inspiring. We were united by a common vision: to embed digital innovation into the very fabric of education, giving our students not just knowledge, but tools to shape the future.

A Vision Taking Shape: The Oluremi Tinubu Computer Centre

One of the most exciting moments was touring the soon-to-be-completed Her Excellency Oluremi Tinubu Computer Centre. This initiative, championed by the First Lady of Niger State with critical support from NITDA Nigeria, is more than just a computer lab—it’s a statement of intent.

Once operational, this centre will become a launchpad for learning and digital skill development. It represents our belief that every child deserves access to 21st-century tools—regardless of their background or location.

Introducing Brainstorm Innovation Hub

In what I believe will be a game-changer, I also introduced the team from Brainstorm Innovation Hub to the Hill-Top Creative Foundation. The plan is bold: to set up a vibrant innovation hub within the school’s ecosystem, designed specifically to foster creativity, tech entrepreneurship, and hands-on learning.

This hub will:

  • Incubate student-led ideas and startups
  • Teach practical, market-relevant digital skills
  • Inspire a culture of curiosity, coding, and creativity

It’s part of our Ministry’s broader mission—to move our youth from passive tech consumers to active digital creators.

Lighting the Path for Young Innovators

What stood out to me most during this visit wasn’t just the infrastructure or plans—it was the excitement in the eyes of the students and educators. They understand that technology is no longer a luxury—it’s a language of the future, and we must ensure they’re fluent in it.

As I told those present during the tour, “We’re not just bringing computers into schools—we’re bringing opportunity, imagination, and a future filled with promise.”

It Takes a Village

Of course, none of this happens in isolation. This journey is powered by partnerships—with alumni who care, with institutions like NITDA, with community leaders and private innovators. The synergy we’re building is what will sustain this momentum.

Looking Ahead

Hill-Top Model School is now on track to become a flagship model for tech-enhanced education in Niger State. And this is just the beginning. Our commitment is to replicate this energy and ecosystem in schools across the state—ensuring that from the grassroots to the cities, every child has access to the digital future.

I left Hill-Top that day feeling proud, hopeful, and more determined than ever. The seeds have been planted—and what we’re cultivating isn’t just a smarter generation, but a bolder, more capable one.
