Technology, institutions, and inclusive growth
Suleiman Isah is a public-sector digital transformation leader whose work sits at the intersection of AI in government, cybersecurity, digital inclusion, and institutional reform across Africa.
Biography
My work has been shaped by a simple idea: technology creates value only when institutions can use it well. That belief has guided a career spanning federal and state systems in Nigeria, from national infrastructure and information security roles to state-level leadership in the digital economy, public innovation, and institutional reform.
I am Suleiman Isah, the pioneer Director-General of the Niger State Information Technology and Digital Economy Agency (NSITDEA). I previously served as the pioneer Commissioner for Communications Technology and Digital Economy in Niger State from August 2023 to March 2026, when the ministry was restructured into NSITDEA. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Information Technology from Igbinedion University, Okada, and a Master of Science in Information Security and Digital Forensics from the University of East London. Before my appointment to the executive office, I worked at the Federal Inland Revenue Service in network administration and information security roles, and later served as Special Adviser on ICT and Digital Transformation to the Niger State Internal Revenue Service.
My work in Niger State has focused on three areas: digital infrastructure, digital literacy and inclusion, and technology-driven governance. As Commissioner, I oversaw the waiver of fibre-optic right-of-way charges, the introduction of AI-monitored civil-service recruitment examinations, the rollout of a unified digital health record system, and the joint Niger–Nasarawa NINATECH digital skills programme. I am the founder of TEDxMinna, and outside work, I enjoy horseback riding and clay shooting.
